Bring the little ones to play and build with our mega lego blocks! Or the older kids can use the regular lego blocks and create someting more challenging. If you are an adult, see what you can create in an hour with the legos we have. Be creative and let your imaginations lead the way!

Teen Planner and Journal Club

Hey Teens! Do you love scheduling ahead using a planner or just writing in a journal? Do you like to be creative with your journals and planners or do you like simplicity? Join us for our monthly planner and journal club to start planning for the next month! Get ahead on your planning or jorurnaling. Bring any accents you would like to use specifically or use what we have to offer!

Plan for school, work or just things you do at home.

Family Game Night

Join us for our Family Game night. Choose between video games, such as playstation, x-box or Wii. Or if you prefer card games or board games, you can play games like sorry, chess, or risk. We also have vintage games such as atari and the retro duo.

Bring your famly and friends, have a freindly competition or play solo.

Juvenile Paint Night

Join Mrs. Kathy for an afternoon of painting an adorable panda holding balloons! If you’re not feeling the panda, that’s ok. You can paint a polar bear, black bear, brown bear, or something of your own choosing. All Suppplies are provided. Please wear appropriate clothes. We will provide smocks, but paint is still messy.  Parents must accompany small children at all times. Thornton and East Hazel Crest Libraries reserve the right to cancel or reschedule this event.

Adult Paint Night

Come paint “Autumn Forest” (16″ x 20″ canvas) with us! Walk-ins painters are welcome, but seats are limited! To secure your spot, payments can be made in advance as the Thornton American Legion. Cash Only! For more information, contact the Thornton Public Library at 708-877-2579. We welcome appetizers/potluck. You must be 21+ to participate.

End of Summer Reading Party

Join us for our End of Summer Reading Party for those who participated in Summer Reading! We will have food and games to play. The best part, we will hand out the raffle prizes! Be sure to let use know if you have any allergies. Small children must be accompained by a parent or guardian. Outside behind the library in the grass. Weather permitting!

Nature Journal

Hey Teens!! Are you looking for a way to get all your inspiration and beautiful ideas of nature? A nature journal is the perfect place to keep track of everything all in one place. The best part, you can be as creative or minimalist as you would like. Add nature stickers, color codes,nature stanps, nature washi tape, and so much more.  There will be plenty of examples and guides for you to get ideas from.

Storytime: Stuffed Animal Sleep Over!

Bring the little ones for a storytime session about animals! We will read some stories about different animals, create and animal craft, and then get our stuffed friends ready for their sleep over!
